MY JOURNAL
Some of my favorite historical figures to date journaled extensively, Merriweather Lewis, Eugene Delacroix, Mark Twain. Some of my other favorites corresponded so prolifically that their letters were as insightful as any journal would have been had they kept one – Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson. Their words were their artistic expression. Regardless of their intent behind why they wrote, their words afford me a means to understand what was in their soul.
The written word is another way that I express my creativity. It is an integral part of my restless imagination. I often record my thoughts because I want to remember moments of inspiration. I could be inspired by a place I visit, a piece of art in a museum or street fair, a person that I speak with, I could be inspired to make something when I’m out to dinner with friends. I never know how or when an idea will spark, or in what form the inspiration will manifest.
This journal is a glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes of the pieces I create and those that are yet to be created. I’d love to hear from you if this journal inspires you.

Chasing Lines
Off to Salt Lake City for my yearly powder fix. Stay classy San Diego. Brighton, I’ve missed you. Eight inches overnight you say? I’m down. I’ve snowboarded a fair number of places and seen the best and worst of many

Lost Wax Casting
Wax width and ring size are both set before forming the desired shape . I was taught to always work from the inside out. A couple of hours later and the wax is shaped to final form and the sprew

Aqua Cushion
Every stone that I cut has a history: where I found it, who I got it from, where they got it, what it looked like before cutting and after, etc. found some very reasonably priced aquamarine from a man in

Makin something outta nothin like MacGyver
Every one of my pieces starts with a stone. The metal and style for a non-commissioned piece serves only to protect and compliment the heart and soul of the piece – the stone. These little Lightning Ridge black opals want
